psyke83 has released new updated version of CyanogenMod ROM for GALAXY 5 users. The new released version is CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC2 V2.4
WARNING:
Before beginning with the procedure to Install CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC2 V2.4 on Galaxy 5,you must know that once the procedure in the tutorial is followed your warranty stands void. The given method is risky and can cause your device to brick. It is therefore recommended that you follow the procedure carefully and perfectly. The processes that you carry out on your device are solely at your risk. We do not take responsibility for any damage to your device.
Pre-Requisites before Updating ROM on Galaxy 5
- Make a backup of your phone contacts and Messages.This update will delete all user data and application Installed in your phone.
- Minimum 60% of your phone battery must be charged.
- You will be needing your USB cable to establish connection with PC.
- Keep 1GB space free in your sdcard because we will be needing this for backup the previous firmware ROM and to install the new one.
- Uninstall/End Process of Kies from your Computer and disable you antivirus because they can clutter in between the process of flashing.
- Enable USB Debugging on your device, To Enable Go To Settings >> Applications >> Development and check whether USB Debugging is checked or not.
- Device drivers should be installed on your computer.
- You can use Titanium Back up.
- For SMS back up you can use SMS back up.
- For Contact back up, export your contact to memory card. This feature is built-in available in Galaxy5.You can see import/export option as a Contact Option.
- You can also use for Backup all of your SMS, Contacts, Call Logs, APN Settings, and necessary applications (using Astro File Manger).
Download Installation Package CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC2 V2.4
STEPS:
Phase I
- Turn off your Galaxy 5.
- Hold the Volume Down + Home + Power Button to put it in “Download Mode” (as shown below).
- Run Odin Multi Downloader v4.28.exe found in Installation Package CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC2 V2.4
- Select EUROPA_v1.0.ops in the OPS field.
- Select One Package ClockworkMod-Galaxy5-v0.5.tar in the one package field.
- Now connect your phone to your computer via USB cable and wait for it to show up in ODIN (Under COM Port mapping).
- Once it shows click on “Start”.
Your mobile phone will now boot in Clockwork Recovery with a screen something similar to
one shown below:
Phase II
- Using the D pad browse to “Mounts and storage”.
- You can use volume Up/Down key to move up/Down in this Option menu.
- Once in mounts and storage select “Mount USB Storage”. Your memory card will show up in your computer.
- Copy the
- “update-cm-7-20120518-madteam-galaxy5-signed.zip”
- “TouchWiz_3.0_Port_v0.7.zip”
- “gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip” file from Installation Package CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC2 V2.4 to the memory card from your computer and safely remove/eject the memory.
Now, on your mobile press the back button several times, till you reach the Clockwork recovery screen as shown above.
Phase III
- Browse to Wipe date/factory reset and select “yes” – This will revert your mobile to factory settings and delete all the data (But we have back up!).
- Browse to Wipe cache and select “yes”.
- Browse to Advanced –> Wipe dalvik cache and select “Yes”.
Phase IV
Now It comes the stage where you put the custom ROM viz. Cyanogen Mod 7.2V2.4 which will put Android 2.3.7 in your Galaxy 5 I5503/I5500.
- Browse to Install zip from SD card and select “Select zip from SD card”.
- Select the “update-cm-7-20120518-madteam-galaxy5-signed.zip” file that you copied to the memory card in Phase II.
- Initiate it by selecting “yes”.
- Wait for few seconds till it updates your device. Once it is done then go back to main option menu and Browse to Install zip from SD card and select “Select zip from SD card”.
- Select the “TouchWiz_3.0_Port_v0.7.zip” file that you copied to the memory card in Phase II.
- Initiate it by selecting “yes”.
- Wait for few seconds till it updates your device. Once it is done then go back to main option menu and Browse to Install zip from SD card and select “Select zip from SD card”.
- Select the “gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip” file that you copied to the memory card in Phase II.
- Initiate it by selecting “yes
- Once it’s done reboot your phone by selecting “Reboot system now” from the main menu.
Now, if your mobile phone reboots without any issue and shows the home-screen then you have successfully installed Android Gingerbread version 2.3.7 on your Samsung Galaxy.
